Historic Aero Engine

Ground operation of a historic aircraft engine. You will see the engine up close and running, propeller spinning and all!

Aero engines have been displayed at public events in the UK since the 1990s, mostly by a handful of engineering enthusiasts working alone in a pre-internet age. As time progressed, several of these owners would meet at events, and several of these events repeated invites on an annual basis.

The primary objective of the group is to promote our aero engine heritage, from the earliest engines used in powered flight, through to the early gas turbines developed just post WWII. During that time, aviation was transformed from
faltering attempts at sustained flight to major international airlines and air forces of the major powers of WWII. Wars were won and lost based on the technological development of aero engines, and the cultural impact of war was profound during the 20th century. The engineering techniques used during engine development inspired engineers over the decades, and demonstrating historic aero engines at public events has the same effect on some aspiring young engineers of tomorrow.

Band of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps

The Band of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps are based out of HMS SULTAN in Gosport and wear the traditional Royal Marines ceremonial uniform; a privilege granted to very few outside of the Service. Cadets can join as either a drummer or musician between the ages of 9 to 16 and serve until 18. Today, the band numbers around 45 cadets who are kept busy training, rehearsing and conducting engagements across the south cost. We are pleased to have them here this weekend. Please welcome the Band of the Royal Marine Volunteer Cadet Corps!
